Céad Míle Fáilte - A Hundred Thousand Welcomes

Welcome to Midleton in County Cork.

Midleton was originally established in 1180 by advancing Normans, Midleton was inhabited by Cistercian Monks in an Abbey built by the Normans on the river running through Midleton.

This is still today reflected in the Irish name of the town "Mainistir Na Corann" which translated means "Monastery at the Weir".

By 1825 a Church of Ireland Church was established in the monasteries place and still stands today on the site of the old Abbey.

Midleton has also been a town that produces Irish whiskey for many years and visitors today can get a taste of history visiting the site of the old distillery and taking a tour of the Distillery just off the main street.

Midleton today is a thriving market town with a diverse group of residents both young and old.
Take a stroll down the Main Street and look at some of the beautiful sculptures, architecture and monuments.

Grab a coffee and cake at one of the towns many cafes, have some lunch or a meal and any one of our wonderful restaurants serving a variety of local food and of course the usual take away.

We even have a few tattoo shops in town if you are feeling adventurous.

Either way just enjoy the cache and walk around a beautiful market town.

You can either drive to Midleton, a short 20minutes from the city, or catch a train from Kent station in the city and the town is also serviced by the buses from cork city to Midleton Main Street.

Enjoy this urban cache but please be aware that this is a muggle heavy area so take care when locating and replacing the cache to make sure it is firmly in place.
