Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) gilt bis heute als der bedeutendste deutsche Dichter, seine Werke zählen zu den Höhepunkten der Weltliteratur. Obwohl er auf Drängen seines Vaters hin Rechtswissenschaften studiert, gilt seine Leidenschaft schon immer dem Schreiben. Doch Goethe kennt sich in allen Bereichen des Lebens und Wissen aus: Neben dem Dasein als Dichter ist er Künstler, Theaterleiter, Naturforscher, Kunsttheoretiker und Staatsmann.
