Travel along Mountain Road by foot past the gates... enjoy the view and a little treasure hunt along the way. This is the first cache in a series of 4. The cache is a hidden bison tube with log. You'll need to bring along a pen for this one. Take care of the surrounding environment & have fun!
Te Ruru - The Morepork
One of the sounds you’ll hear resounding over Rotorua at night is the haunting call of the Morepork. “Ruru” they will call out, letting you know that they stand guard and watch over all through the night. The beautiful wee owls can be tricky to spot but if you look hard and are as quiet as a mouse, you might find you’re in luck! I have only ever seen one once in my life but relish the calling Ruru as I drift off to sleep.
