Herons & Egrets Traditional Cache

This is a nice, easy nature walk in the heart of downtown Antioch.  Watch for muggles, as there can be many at times.  This is only recommended during daylight hours.  Parking is available across the street from the trailhead.  Cache in, trash out.  If you have a small bag handy to pick up any litter found on the trail, our community members will definitely appreciate the gesture.  This is a small cache, so please bring your own pen.

Interesting facts about Herons & Egrets:

* They appear on all continents except Antarctica.

* Their feathers can be colored blue, black, brown, grey, or white.

* There are 64 species of Herons, some of which are known as Egrets and Bitterns.

* The smallest Heron in the world is the Green Heron, which measures less than 50 cm.

* The collective name for a group is a siege or a sedge.

You may see one up close on this walk, you will surley hear the frogs and birds singing, see a butterfly or two, and enjoy reading the many posted signs about nature and its habitants.  You do not need to leave the boardwalk to find this cache, in fact, it is recommended that you stay on the trail. In the summer months, mosquito repellent will be comforting.  Enjoy the short walk and please be aware of muggles.
