Geocache Description:

Sandy Cape

Sandy Cape is one of the best camping spots within easy driving distance from the Perth metro area. About 13k's north of Jurien Bay it is a comfortable 2½ hour drive from the northern suburbs, just right for a weekend in the wilderness by the beach.

The campground has about thirty sites suitable for caravans, camper trailers or tents. Camp sites are subject to a first come first serve basis. There is NO pre-booking of sites at Sandy Cape. Camp sites will regularly be full during peakperiods of use, such as school holidays and long weekends. If you have a 4WD vehicle there are tracks both north and south of the campgrounds with loads of camping spots to choose from. When on site, camp fees can be paid direct to the camp host. Should the camp host not be in attendance camp fees can be paid at the information bay. As at April 2015 the fees were $15 a night for two adults and two children with additional adults and children charged at $3 and $2 respectively. There is a minimum of a four night stay at Sandy Cape. Public toilets are available at the camp grounds. The ablutions are long drop self composting toilets. No drinking water is available on site. Dogs are permitted in Sandy Cape Recreation Park. When dogs are in the camp grounds and in the swimming area adjacent to the camp grounds dogs are to be on a lead or leash.

The campgrounds are within easy walking distance to a secluded beach which at times can boast plentiful fishing. Or you could jump in your 4WD and explore the tracks in the area of which many provide vehicular access to the beach. I have personally had good catches of tailor, skippy and herring on my frequent visits to the area. If fishing is not your go the beaches are also suitable for some leisurly swimming activities, the beach by the campground is in a well sheltered bay ideal for the littler kiddies.

The cache is located near the information bay and should be a fairly straight forward find. Please don't be shy in your log and tell me of your experience in finding this cache, whether you stayed for a while at the campgrounds or not, did some fishing, 4WDing, swimming or whatever.

A special thanks to local cacher 'Hellkell' for helping to maintain the cache. (Once she finds it of course)
