William H Douthit, Veteran of the Civil War
Corporal Douthit served under Captain Benjamin Massingale in Company K of the 20th Alabama Infantry. Douthit followed so many other young men from Tuscaloosa into this particular Company; there are at least 5 other of his companions from this company buried nearby in this cemetery. Further, his brother in law, John Perry “Bud” Bartee is buried nearby; he too served in a Civil War unit from Tuscaloosa, Lumsden’s Battery. Both Bartee and Douthit died the same year, just over a month apart.
