Geocache Description:

A camo lock and lock container with log book, pencil and treasures.

There is a road on the west side of Highway 7 just north of Tarfu Creek that you can pull off onto to park and walk to the cache.  The cache is an easy stroll along an old trail and fairly flat walking.  There are great views along the way looking south over sunny slopes.  A fairly open forest that has previously been logged and evidence of a forest fire that went through sometime in the 1950's.  The Atlin Highway was built by the Canadian Army in 1951 to connect the small town of Atlin with the Alaska Highway.  The Alaska highway started at Dawson Creek, B.C. (Mile 0) and went to Delta Junction, Alaska (Mile 1422).  It was a joint effort between both Canadian and US Governments and started in 1942 during World War II.  The Atlin Highway has seen many improvements since it was first created and today the Yukon side of the road is almost completely paved.  This area is fairly open, but as always when walking through forested areas be bear aware and make noise while walking so as not to startle wildlife.

See my log of April 30, 2016 regarding accessing the cache now the road work is complete.
