Ein geocache ved Vikaelva i Stryn kommune.

Vikaelva har i alle år vore viktig kraftkjelde for garden Vik i Stryn. Mange kverner og sagbruk har stått her opp gjennom åra. I nyare tid vart det i 1985 bygd eit stort moderne sagbruk på vestsida av elva like nedanfor der cachen er plassert. Etter at dette sagbruket vart lagt ned har det vore trelasthandel og butikkar i dei gamle lokala.

Like ovanfor sagbrukslokala ligg den gamle raude bygningen som husa Stryn Kostefabrikk. Denne fabrikken vart starta i 1936 og leverte kostar til heile landet. Lenger oppe i Vikaelva vart det bygd eit nytt kraftverk som opna i 2013.

English:
Vikaelva river has always been an important power source for the Vik farm in Stryn. There have been many grain mills and saw mills through the years. In 1985 a big modern saw mill was built on the west side of the river, just below where the cache is located. After the saw mill was closed the building has housed lumber shops and other commercial entities.

Just above the old sawmill is a red building that housed Stryn Broom Factory which was opened in 1936 and delivered brooms all over Norway. Further up the river is the new power station that was opened in 2013.
