If you have the time, check out the Nature Reserve across the road, I've tried and tried to get permission for a series around the Reserve but to no avail! The quarry now supports a diverse list of species and attracts loads of 'twitchers' for the bird life. The quarry was one of the original sand quarries round here, some of which are still being mined nearby. The sand from round here is some of the best in the country and is the same specification as the sand pits used in all the major Athletics venues around the world.
