Spirit Quest - Center Cemetery.
The cache is located inside the center cemetery, but away from any known graves. As with any cemetery cache please be respectful of the grounds, and any possible visitors that might not understand what we are doing. Though there are no posted hours, I ask that you limit your search to daylight hours only please.
This cemetery was established around 1890, it covers approximately 2 acres of land. There are 64 known internments. It is unknown what year the cemetery was abandoned, but in 1999 boy scout troop 1480 lead a successful clean up effort at the cemetery.
Finding the cemetery & Parking: As you approach the cemetery do not turn down the Center Cemetery Road, for some reason there is no access to the cemetery from there. Instead follow the main road center road to the parking coordinates. The cemetery and the parking are on the south east side of the road. There is a small driveway into the cemetery with parking for one vehicle. Even turning around in the mini-van was a little tight and visibility when pulling out on to Center Road is not great. Remember that you will be pulling out on to a road that is 55mph, and do so cautiously.
While there are no posted hours, and the cemetery became inactive long ago I ask that the cacher only search for this cache during daylight hours out of respect for the cemetery. While you are here please take your time and look around, and enjoy what history you can see here, but remember to be respectful. Since the cemetery has been inactive for at least 75 years, it is unlikely that you will run into any mourners, but please be respectful of the grounds and any possible visitors that might not understand what we are doing. The cache is NOT located near any known graves, but it is inside the cemetery.
