Luang Poruam Traditional Cache

Wat Kiri Wongkaram boasts of one of two renowned mummified monks found around Koh Samui.  The body of Luang Poruam, who is younger and less well-known than his counterpart Luang Pordaeng at Wat Khunaram in Ban Thurian, is preserved in a glass case in his own builiding at this temple.  Luang Poruam has remained in remarkably good condition, and in the same position for over 25 years.  As long-term TM meditators, we found it interesting to imagine ourselves being preserved 'forever' while meditating!  Wat Wongkaram has some charming architecture and sculptures set in a typically peaceful setting near the beach.  Ask about taking a free tour around some of the old temple grounds and buildings while there.  The monk is keeping an eye on the nearby cache for us!
