Boot, Bike, Boat!

This is our third annual event with fun planned for all weekend, lots of caches and lots of socializing to be had.

The fun started in Detroit Lakes, Mn two years ago and was followed up in Park Rapids in 2014. This year - Cass Lake, Norway Beach; was selected to be the host site for this grand camping event. We are planning lots of fun and events for the entire weekend, so come for the day, but stay for three.

Saturday, August 15. 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Registration 9 a.m. 10 a.m. at the Norway Beach Pavilion - in case of inclement weather we will meet in the lodge.

FTF Race 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Poker Run: Due to Unexpected Circumstances this has been cancelled.

Puzzlers Corner 1 p.m. 3 p.m. Have a puzzle that's stumped you, have a puzzle idea - bring it to the group and let's see if we can help. We will meet at the registration station at the Norway Beach Pavilion at 1 p.m. - in case of inclement weather we will meet in the lodge.

NOTE: Please help keep the campground clean.

Camping reservations in advance are recommended by contacting: Event Co-host: Allan Olson (olsonkidz) through geocaching.com or private message me on the NSGS FB page.

Many primitive campsites will be available. As of this time there will be no electric sites available for our group unless you make arrangements on your own.

Prior to the event: A large selection and variety of terrain and difficulty of caches will be available within a 10 mile radius of Cass Lake.

Norway Beach Campground: The Norway Beach Campground is part of the Norway Beach Recreation Area. Located right on the waters of Cass Lake, this campground offers interpretive trails, sandy beaches, a paved biking trail, boat ramps, a picnic shelter and the Norway Beach Visitor Center. It is all nestled among red and white pines. There are firewood and recycling centers as well as showers and an RV dump station. Cass Lake is home to the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and the Chippewa National Forest Headquarters. The 620,000 acre forest was originally formed as a forest reserve in 1902 with Cass Lake as its headquarters and has remained the headquarters for the last 113 years. Cass Lake/CNF was also home to the 2014 National Christmas Tree that adorned the Capitol Grounds in Washington, DC. This is the second tree that the CNF has provided for the Nations Capitol.

Log Entry 101: Creative Log writing: Do you complain when someone only writes "TFTC" on the log when you spent hours creating a clever cache, or researching a topic, building a puzzle or hiking to a location several times. If this is you - or if you just like to jot nonsense down - let's tell a tale about how we found this "name unknown cache." Find the notebook by the registration table and add a sentence or paragraph or two, feel free to make more than one entry throughout the course of the weekend. The entire entry will be posted on the event page after the weekend. The rules for this are: PG and keeping it legible.
