All of the caches in this series are located at or near some of my favourite sites in Nova Scotia. Nova Scotians are proud of our heritage and how it has been linked to one of our basic needs, our basic biological requirement to consume sustenance.
This cache is near one of my favourite places. This location has some history as pointed out at ground zero. I really enjoy when these caches can take you somewhere not only where you might not know about the food, but also a spot where the fortunes of Nova Scotia played out. The days of the merchant mariner are long and mostly unrecognized for much of history. Parker, Eakins and Co. were one of hundreds of companies that made Nova Scotia the richest province in the country, before the St. Lawrence Seaway was opened, letting all of that trade bypass us for cheaper passage inland. We're still connected to the sea, we'll never be able to escape it, it's in our blood. Locations like this give proof to that, plying their trade in what we take out of the ocean. Don't forget to look for some of the other caches in the series.
