This is eighth in a series of caches placed on the beautiful Northey Island. Northey island is the oldest recorded battle field in Britain, when viking invaders used the island as a base during the Battle of Maldon in AD991. Today the island has a peaceful tranquility and is a haven for birdwatchers and wildlife. We would like to thank The National Trust for allowing us to set this series of caches for you all to enjoy. Please treat the island with the respect it deserves.
IMPORTANT
Kind permission has been granted by the National Trust for the placement of these caches, as access is restricted you are required to phone ahead and gain permission from the National Trust who will confirm if you are able to gain access the island. The telephone number you need to call is 01621 853142 and they will advise you whether you will be able to access the island and also confirm tide times. Please DO NOT ATTEMPT these caches unless you have phoned ahead and gained permission.
If the causeway has water on it, please DO NOT attempt to cross…the tide comes in very quickly and it would be extremely dangerous to be caught on the causeway.
