Geocache Description:

All of the caches in this series are located at or near some of my favourite sites in Nova Scotia. Nova Scotians are proud of our heritage and how it has been linked to one of our basic needs, our basic biological requirement to consume sustenance.

This cache is near one of my favourite places. Canning has been a tradition linked to fishing for a century or more. What do you do when you catch small fish? You cook them or salt them or cure them and pack them so someone halfway around the world can enjoy the bounty you take for granted. If it weren't for canneries there wouldn't be Caesar salad, sardine pizza or great Steinbeck novels. Don't forget to look for some of the other caches in the series.
