A lovely spot on an old lane near the mill in Oxted. We often go to the pond here to feed the ducks and enjoy the natural surroundings. The mill is a picturesque old building now converted into offices, but you can see the mill race and many other features from its working days.
Spring Lane is very narrow and we recommend you do not drive down it. There are seveal good pubs nearby, in Old Oxted or the Haycutter in Broadham Green which has parking. From the Haycutter there is a path through fields next to the River Eden which will take you to Spring Lane. The duck pond at the mill is a lovely spot to view water birds. There usually a few ducks, moorhens and coots, and you might even see a heron. On the day we placed the cache, we saw a cormorant - very unusual for this location far from the sea! The cache itself is a little way away from the mill. From the top of Spring Lane (uphill from the cache) there is a good view of the surrounding countryside.
