8 - Grampound Circular Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

RFCColin: Due to hides becoming very easy to spot, I have decided that now is the right time to archive the series.
Many thanks to all who visited. [:D][:)]

Geocache Description:

Grampound Circular Walk:

The caches can be done in any order, though for those with OCD they are numbered so you can follow the order.

The walk starts in the woods, joins on to a road and carries on up to Trewithen, follows a permissive path around Trewithen and then follows the footpath back down into the village, with the last cache just before the houses at Old Hill.

Please note that when heading to #6, you need to head towards Trewithen’s big bus entrance, go through the gate to the side of the cattle grid, and up and over the stile with the green permissive path sign on it. It is near to a sign asking you not to park there.

There are a mixture of terrains all through the walk and a few sections are up/downhill depending on where you start/finish. A couple of points through the walk involve walking over stones, which can be slippery when wet.

The walk should take between an hour to two hours depending on walking speed, weather conditions, how many in your group and other factors.

All of the caches are hidden in easily accessible places, so there is no need to pull stones from walls, damage any of the areas or trample vegetation when there is no need to. Nettles I can understand.

I also wouldn’t advise to try and do cache and dashes as the roads can get busy in the summer with locals avoiding the main roads and visitors travelling into Trewithen.

Most of the caches will have room for smaller trackables and geocoins and swaps.

You will need to bring a pen/pencil/sticker/stamp to sign the log book. Blood doesn’t count.

Wellies will probably be needed at certain points through the year, as after rain, the footpath can flood. Care will be needed in the woods too, as this is a popular dog walking area. There are works that go on in the woods from time to time, normally not planned.

Special thanks to Trewithen Estate for their permission to place the caches in the two woodland sections.

Please note that there is a chance of stinging nettles, brambles and possibly holly.

There are small paper cuts of 12 different animals/insects that can be seen around Britain, please do not take them, they are to stay in the caches.

Congratulations to cazzer1978, lisariddle and chin4160 on their joint FTFs
