This geocache is located near the point where the railway crossed Maldon - Shelbourne road. On the Maldon side of the road crossing is a large gap in the embankment. This was the site of one of the timber bridges which was destroyed in the bushfire of 1969, resulting in the line's closure.
The bridge site is on private property but can be observed from the roadside. The remains of the timber uprights can be seen as well as stone and timber retaining walls for the embankment. The stone retaining walls are rather unusual and are the only ones I've discovered along the former railway.
