Starting place at Villa di Chiavenna
La ciclovia della Val Bregaglia è un percorso misto su pista ciclabile e strade secondarie che collega Chiavenna al confine con la Svizzera (Villa di Chiavenna) lungo poco più di 10km e con un dislivello inferiore ai 500m. Recentemente è stato completato l'ultimo tratto mancante, un tratto di ciclabile che permette di evitare la strada statale tra Santa Croce e Villa di Chiavenna (qui la segnaletica non è ancora completa).
Numerose le aree di sosta, le panchine, le fontanelle e soprattutto i luoghi di interesse storico-architettonico dove ho collocato sette cache.
Se siete poco allenati potreste partire da Villa di Chiavenna in modo da farlo tutto in discesa.
Naturalmente il percorso può essere fatto a piedi.
I paesi e le frazioni attraversate sono ben serviti dai mezzi pubblici: autobus italiani o autopostale svizzero.
Numerosi anche i luoghi di ristorazione che si incontrano lungo la ciclovia.
Se partite da qui per poi cercare le altre cache in direzione Chiavenna, attraversate il ponte e proseguite sul lato destro del fiume Mera (voltando le spalle alla Svizzera).
The bicycle way in Val Bregaglia is a mixed route on bike path and secondary roads, linking Chiavenna to the border with Switzerland (Villa di Chiavenna); it's just about 10km long with a vertical drop of less than 500m. It has benn recently completed the last missing part, a stretch that avoids the main road between Santa Croce and Villa di Chiavenna (here the signage is not yet complete).
Along the way you can find rest areas, benches, fountains and places of historical and architectural interest, where I placed seven cache.
If you are untrained you might start from Villa di Chiavenna so that it's all downhill.
Of course, the track can be done by walking instead of cycling.
The towns and villages along the way are well served by public transport: Italian and Swiss buses.
There are also many good restaurants ("crotti") to be found along the bike way.
If you start from this cache and then try to find the others in the direction of Chiavenna, cross the bridge and continue on the right side of the river Mera (turning your back to Switzerland).
