This series tells you a few stories about incredible or strange events in and around Dudelange. The sagas and legends are originally published in German. We try to show you the places where these stories could have taken place. The areas changed, but the stories are still remaining.

Due to some distance problems with other caches in the surroundings it wasn’t possible to place some caches at the place where the stories took place. So don’t be too disappointed.

You'll find the story in the listing, but to find the cache, you first have to solve the riddle and sometimes, you have to read the story to understand how to crack the riddle.

The checker tells you more about the Code for the Bonus-Caches. Solve the riddles from A to M for Bonus 1 and the riddles from N to Z for Bonus 2. Then do the nice Multi Cache GC5P7RM to find the formulas for both Bonus.

Die geheimnisvolle Nachricht 2

Zu Düdelingen saßen eines Abends mehrere Männer um den Küchenherd auf der Siddel und erzählten von dem Amechtsfest, das eben in dieser Ortschaft abgehalten worden war. Einer der anwesenden Männer fragte seine Genossen: »Habt ihr denn auch schon gehört, dass der Rippi bei dem Amecht verwundet worden ist? « Eine alte, graue Katze, welche bis dahin ganz teilnahmslos neben dem Feuer gesessen, fuhr bei diesen Worten erschrocken in die Höhe und rief: »As Rippi verwondt, dât wîr mer der Däiwel! « Dann sprang sie im Nu an den Kesselhaken (Hôl, Hél) und rannte mit Blitzesschnelle durch den Schornstein über das Dach hinweg und fort war sie. Diese Katze war eine Hexe.

Das Haus, wo dies sich zugetragen, heißt noch heute »in Rippesch«.

Le mystérieux message. 2 - Ribeschpont

Un soir à Dudelange plusieurs hommes étaient assis sur le banc coffre autour des fourneaux et racontaient de la fête des moissons et des récoltes, qui s’était tenue dans la commune. Un des hommes présent demanda à son compagnon : « Avez-vous déjà entendu que le Rippi a été blessé lors de la fête ? » Le vieux chat gris, lequel jusque maintenant s’était tenu non concerné près du feu, se redressa d’un coup à ses paroles et cria : Si Rippi est blessé, ce serait vraiment terrible! » C’est alors qu’il sauta d’un bond sur la crémaillère et couru comme un éclair à travers la cheminée, sur le toit et disparu. Ce chat fut une sorcière.

La maison, où cette histoire s’est passée, s’appelle aujourd’hui encore « in Rippesch ».

The mysterious message 2

One evening in Dudelange, several men sat on a bench near the stove and were talking about the harvest festival which took place in the village. One of the men asked his friends: „Have you heard about Rippi being wounded during the festival? “ An old grey cat who was sitting impassively near the fire, hearing those words, startled and shouted: „If Rippi is wounded, that would be terrible! “ It sprang on the pothook and run as fast as lightning trough the chimney on the roof and away. The cat was a witch.
