This series tells you a few stories about incredible or strange events in and around Dudelange. The sagas and legends are originally published in German. We try to show you the places where these stories could have taken place. The areas changed, but the stories are still remaining.

Due to some distance problems with other caches in the surroundings it wasn’t possible to place some caches at the place where the stories took place. So don’t be too disappointed.

You'll find the story in the listing, but to find the cache, you first have to solve the riddle and sometimes, you have to read the story to understand how to crack the riddle.

The checker tells you more about the Code for the Bonus-Caches. Solve the riddles from A to M for Bonus 1 and the riddles from N to Z for Bonus 2. Then do the nice Multi Cache GC5P7RM to find the formulas for both Bonus.

Das Fräulein bei Budersberg.

Ein Bäcker hatte einst auf Sankt Johannistag einen Bittgang auf den Johannisberg gemacht. Als er auf seinem Heimweg hinter Budersberg gekommen war, sah er dort am Weg ein Frauenzimmer sitzen, das ausnehmend schön war und dessen schwarzes Haar über Rücken und Schulter bis zur Erde herabwallte. Vor der Frauengestalt waren Leichentücher ausgebreitet, auf denen der schönste Weizen der Welt lag, gelb wie Gold. Der Bäcker trat hinzu und sagte, in seinem Leben habe er nie solch schönen Weizen gesehen. Nachdem er den Weizen angefühlt, fragte er, ob er nicht eine Probe mitnehmen dürfe. Das Frauenzimmer gab ihm keine Antwort. Da nahm er eine Handvoll Weizen, tat ihn in die Westentasche und ging seines Weges. Als er zur Klause im Stackecher Walde kam, wurde es ihm in der Westentasche so schwer und es klimperte darin. Er griff hinein und sieh! Er hatte schöne, gelbe Goldstücke in der Tasche. Dem Bäcker kam es in den Sinn, umzukehren, um sich noch eine Tasche voll zu nehmen; er besann sich aber und setzte fröhlich seinen Weg fort.

La Demoiselle près de Budersberg.

Un boulanger entreprit jadis, le jour de la St.Jean, un pèlerinage vers le Mont St.Jean. Pendant son retour, derrière Budersberg, il vit au bord du chemin, une très belle femme, assise, avec de longs cheveux noirs qui flottaient sur les épaules et le dos longeaient jusque par terre. Devant la femme étaient étendus des linceuls (draps funèbres) sur lesquels se trouvait le plus beau blé du monde, jaune comme de l’or. Le boulanger s’approcha et dit qu’il n’avait jamais vu dans sa vie du blé aussi beau. Après avoir touché le blé, il demanda s’il ne pouvait pas emporter un échantillon. La femme ne répondit pas. C’est alors qu’il en prit une main pleine, le mit dans la poche de son veston, et passa son chemin. Lorsqu’il atteignit l’ermitage dans le « Stackecher » bois, sa poche le pesa et on entendit des cliquetis. Il y plongea sa main et alors ! Il y avait de belles, pièces d’or toutes jaunes dans sa poche. Pour un instant ça lui traversa l’esprit, de retourner, afin d’y prendre encore une pleine main, mais le boulanger reprit ses esprit et continua joyeusement son chemin.

The maiden near Budersberg

Once upon a time, a baker made a pilgrimage on mount St John. On his way home, behind Budersberg, he saw a woman sitting on the wayside. She was exceptionally beautiful, her long black hair floated over her neck and shoulders to the ground. Shrouds were spread in front of the woman, with the most likely wheat of the world, yellow as gold. The baker came by and said he never had seen such wheat before in his life. After having touched the wheat, he asked the woman if he could have some. The woman gave no answer, so he put some in his pocket and walked away. As he reached the retreat in the wood of „Stackelter“, his pocket became very heavy and he heard the sound of tinkling. He reached into his pocket and took out pretty yellow gold pieces. For one moment it came to the baker’s mind to return to take another grab but he reflected for a moment and went on happily.
