[MEGA2015.lu] Z Das Johannistänzchen Mystery Cache

This series tells you a few stories about incredible or strange events in and around Dudelange. The sagas and legends are originally published in German. We try to show you the places where these stories could have taken place. The areas changed, but the stories are still remaining.

Due to some distance problems with other caches in the surroundings it wasn’t possible to place some caches at the place where the stories took place. So don’t be too disappointed.

You'll find the story in the listing, but to find the cache, you first have to solve the riddle and sometimes, you have to read the story to understand how to crack the riddle.

The checker tells you more about the Code for the Bonus-Caches. Solve the riddles from A to M for Bonus 1 and the riddles from N to Z for Bonus 2. Then do the nice Multi Cache GC5P7RM to find the formulas for both Bonus.

Das Johannistänzchen.

In den guten, alten Zeiten wurde auf dem Johannisberg zu Ehren des hl. Johannes ein frommer, heiliger Tanz abgehalten, den man »Johannistänzchen« zu nennen pflegte. Dieser schöne Gebrauch ist aber schon seit undenklichen Zeiten verschwunden. Nur so viel weiß man noch, dass bei dessen Verschwinden die Tiere in den Ställen getanzt und gebrüllt haben. Auch meinten die alten Budersberger, das Johannistänzchen sei nicht ganz verschwunden, es sei nur in ein fernes fremdes Land versetzt worden, wo Engel dasselbe mitten in einem Kranz von Lorbeerstöcken abhielten, bis es einst wieder auf dem Johannisberg abgehalten werden könnte.

La danse du Mont St.Jean

Au beau vieux temps, on organisait sur le Mont St.Jean, en l’honneur de Saint Jean, une danse croyante et sainte, que l’on avait habitude de nommer « Johannistänzchen, la petite danse de Saint Jean ». Cette belle coutume a néanmoins déjà disparu depuis déjà très, très longtemps. La seule chose dont on se rappelle est que lorsqu’on a arrêté cette coutume, les animaux dans les étables, se mirent à danser et hurler. De plus les anciens habitants de Budersberg pensaient que la petite danse du Mont St.Jean n’avait pas complètement disparu, mais qu’elle fut uniquement déplacée dans un lointain et inconnu pays, où des anges organisaient la même chose, au milieu d’une couronne de pieds de lauriers, jusqu’à ce que cette danse, un jour à nouveau, ait lieu au Mont St.Jean.

The dance of Mount St. John

In the good old times, there was held a pious, holy dance at Mount St. John in honour of Saint John. It was called the “Johannistänzchen” (little John’s dance). This beautiful rite however has disappeared a long time ago. Only some of it is still known. In the very moment of its disappearing, the animals in the studs danced and brawled. The old people of Budersberg also believed that the dance has not completely disappeared. According to them, it has simply been transferred to a far off foreign land, a land where angels did the same in the midst of a chaplet made of laurel, till the day it shall be held at the Mount St. John again.
