Palazzo Vertemate Franchi
Il Palazzo Vertemate Franchi, un autentico capolavoro rinascimentale, si trova in località Prosto di Piuro (2km da Chiavenna), in Val Bregaglia.
Fu costruito nella seconda metà del XVI secolo dai fratelli Guglielmo e Luigi Vertemate Franchi; i Vertemate Franchi erano una delle famiglie più ricche di Piuro, e il palazzo è l’unico edificio della famiglia che si salvò dalla frana del 4 settembre 1618 che seppellì l'intero paese di Piuro.
Esternamente vi si trovano un giardino all’italiana con la peschiera, il frutteto, il vigneto, il castagneto e altri edifici per le attività agricole.
All’interno le pareti e i soffitti sono riccamente affrescati e intarsiati.

Palazzo Vertemate Franchi, a Renaissance masterpiece, is located in Prosto di Piuro (2km from Chiavenna), in Val Bregaglia.
It was built in the second half of the sixteenth century by brothers Guglielmo and Luigi Vertemate Franchi; the Vertemate Franchi were one of the richest families in Piuro, and the palace is the only building of the family saved from the landslide of September 4, 1618 that buried the entire town of Piuro.
Externally there are an Italian garden with fish pond, the orchard, the vineyard, the chestnut and other buildings for agricultural activities.
Inside, the walls and the ceilings are richly painted and inlaid.
