This cache is part of a series dedicated to our sweet dog, Harley. We moved to Philadelphia 3 years ago with a 80lb American Bulldog with a lot of energy to burn, so finding places to let him play was essential. We chose our second apartment along this stretch of Wood Street because of the surprisingly large green space going from 2nd Street to 6th Street. Sadly, Harley passed away unexpectedly and suddenly a couple of weeks before our move, but we still love living near a place that so many dogs and their people enjoy. If you go all the way down to Harley's Playground #1, you'll get a great view of Center City!
Harley's Playground #3 holds an additionally special place in my heart - it's in the same neighborhood as where my husband got my engagement ring set and where we bought our wedding rings.
Difficulty is for the muggle factor and for the genuine difficulty factor (this one is TRICKY!). As far as the muggles, it's unlikely that anyone will bother you, but early in the morning and during the evening, you might get a dog coming to say hi! I would recommend doing this cache during a bright, sunny day or bringing a flashlight if you're going to try during the evening or at night. While the cache is out in plain sight, it's in a very busy, very dark area.
DO NOT try to access Wood St. from 5th St. (if you're driving). 5th St. goes underneath the Ben Franklin Bridge and pops out again at Callowhill, totally missing Wood and Vine Streets. You can get here coming South along 6th, 4th, and 2nd or coming North along 3rd.
FREE parking is available all along Wood Street - there are even a couple of blocks that have UNLIMITED PARKING!
I hope you enjoy this city surprise! And if you have a fur-baby, give them a good cuddle tonight!
