Geocache Description:

Haughmond Abbey is a medival, Augustinian monastery founded in the early 12th century, however was dissolved in 1539 during the Dissolution of the Monasteries by Henry VIII. Today the site is owned and maintained by English Heritage.

This pleasant scenic spot with impressive views of Haughmond Abbey will take you back in time to the mystical, medieval period. The coordinates will guide you on an enchanting walk through Abbey Wood then into a field overlooking the old relics of Haughmond Abbey. Parking is available in Abbey Wood Forestry Commission car park just off the B5062.

This cache has been placed with the kind permission of the Shropshire County Council.

Note: the cache is hidden outside of the Abbey grounds so please respect the site and stick to the public footpaths- English Heritage does open Haughmond Abbey to visitors between 1000-1800 from April to October & 1000-1600 from November to March .
