Geocache Description:

This series is up for adoption. Please see Logs below

The Haggis Patch is a 5 mile (8km), high density, 23 cache series starting and finishing in the village of Cowfold.

I suggest parking in the free car park by the playing field in the village centre.

These caches are all on routes where I take my geo hound “Haggis” for our ‘exercise’ when we’re not out caching elsewhere. It’s a relatively flat route but there are stiles and gates to navigate and therefore there are sections that are not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies. In winter it can be particularly muddy in places although there are many good sections of metalled paths. Apart from crossing the main roads in the village at the start and the end, there are no other roads to cross.

The caches are of varying size, design and difficulty and some ideas I have ‘borrowed’ from my favourite finds over the years. If you recognise anything as yours – please take it as a compliment.

Because of the varying designs most size descriptions come up as “other” but between them, they contain a mixture of magnetic nanos, smalls, bison tubes, film canisters and 8ml specimen tubes (approx. 15mm x 55mm).

My aim for this series is simply for your enjoyment but I also want to make you think and then (hopefully) smile when you find it. Most are really quite easy but a couple or so should cause some head scratching. None are difficult to get to and no specialist equipment is needed (apart from tweezers for the logs, maybe). To add to the brain work-out some of the hints are cryptic clues. All of the spellings are as they are supposed to be! Sometimes the title is of help, sometimes it’s just a description of the area. It’s all meant to keep you guessing.

Because my chosen route is quite compact some of it, inevitably, does coincide with Flatcoat Walker’s “Cowfold Capers - South” series. So, if you haven’t already completed her series – and of course it’s totally up to you - but I wouldn’t advise picking up any on this occasion. I believe it will spoil the flow of hers when you come to it. Where the route does coincide I have placed multis so that the gaps between are not too long.

You also pass three of the seven “Cowfold Crossings” caches that you may feel like nabbing!

When you reach the final cache you will be very near the main road. To get back to the car park, it is a simple walk straight up the road to the village centre. There is a pavement but please watch children and pets as it is narrow. Alternatively, if you want to avoid the road, you can back-track down the lane and go back the way you began the loop through the woods.

Cache information:

The co-ordinates may not be spot on so you'll have to use your cacher's eye to spot this magnetic nano. Potentially this is a high muggle area so good stealth and nonchalance will be an asset.
