Geocache Description:

You are searching for a nano in the most peculiar of places. We thought of you, sweating it out in the hot summer months when placing this. This cache is available 24/7, but does require stealth, especially doing what you need to do to find the cache. I, like Douglas Adams, highly suggest the addition of a towel to any hitchhiker's ensemble.

THT's μMayhem #8

Lovingly placed by the Tropical Heritage Team

Here at THT Labs, philosophical questions are not off limits. Unfortunately, after a few cold beers, most things are explained by the number 42, but that’s a totally different story.

Our team was curious, one afternoon at the BBQ place, as to how wishes are fulfilled. In our heuristic, cosmological, theological, metaphysical, and epistemological debate, we determined that there is a science behind wishes. Now, we feel confident answering such questions as “Is there a backlog of wishes during a meteor shower,” to “does the law of diminishing returns apply to the amount of candles on a birthday cake?”

One thing we coined is that there are two major factors that influence wish fulfillment. Wish fulfillment varies inversely by the probability that the wish would be fulfilled by chance alone, and directly by the size of the object wished upon. Wishes that upset the cosmic order, such as world peace or a living Elvis have less likelihood of being fulfilled than, say, a promotion or home-cooked dinner. Wishes must disguise themselves as chance, even though they are most certainly not.

On the other side of the coin, there’s the size of the object. This is relative to the range of object sizes specific for the act of wishing. A wish upon a blazing fireball is more potent than a wish upon a dinky little meteor, for instance. It’s a mass/inertia calculation. Think of the cosmic order as a fabric that provides resistance to a wish. A wished-upon object with greater inertia (and mass) has more tendency to penetrate this cosmic order, thereby increasing the likelihood of your wish being fulfilled.

Take these principles to ground zero. It’s a challenging cache, but finding it is not out of the question. If you are having difficulties, make a wish. It would help to increase the size of the wishing object, so throwing a coin in would be much less efficient than, say, throwing your caching buddy in. Be kind and bring him a towel if that’s the path you decide!

It is our wish that you enjoy!

Happy hunting,

-THT
