La maison de la Galerie
Il s'agit du premier monastère de l'ordre. La chapelle était installée dans la cave.
Le lieu deviendra trop petit et les religieuses s'installeront dans le deuxième monastère (situé non loin de l'extrémité de la ruelle en direction du centre-ville. Il est désormais habité par les Sœurs de Saint-Joseph).

Les religieuses de l'ordre sont désormais installées au troisième monastère situé non loin de la basilique de la visitation.
A la création de l'ordre, les sœurs visitent les malades et les pauvres de la ville. Cette présence religieuse au cœur du monde dans les rues et les taudis, n’est pas bien perçue par les autorités ecclésiastiques en pleine contre-Réforme. La clôture va leur être progressivement imposée.
Très vite la congrégation grandit jusqu’à compter plus de soixante-dix monastères autonomes du vivant de la fondatrice. Aujourd’hui l’ordre de la Visitation compte plus de trois mille religieuses réparties dans le monde entier, dans 155 monastères. Depuis le XVIIe siècle, environ 80 000 visitandines ont fait ce choix de vie.

La maison de la Galerie (The Gallery House)
This is the first monastery of the order. The chapel was installed in the basement.
The place became too small and the nuns move into the second monastery (located near the end of the street towards the city center. It is now inhabited by the Sisters of St. Joseph).

It is here that St. Francis de Sales and St. Jane de Chantal founded June 6, 1610, the order of the Visitation of Holy Mary.
The nuns of the order are now installed in the third monastery located near the Basilica of the Visitation.
At the creation of the order, the sisters visit the sick and poor of the city. This religious presence in the heart of the people in the streets and slums, is not well received by the ecclesiastical authorities which where against Reformation. The nuns will be gradually forced to "stay in".
Soon the congregation grew to include more than seventy autonomous monasteries during the lifetime of the founder. Today the order of the Visitation account over three thousand religious spread around the world in 155 monasteries. Since the seventeenth century, about 80,000 visitandines made this life choice.
