Solve the clues to get the co-ordinates of the cache itself. Museum opening times: Monday & Tuesday 9am-6pm, Wednesday 9am-8pm, Thursday & Friday 9am-7pm & Saturday 9am-5pm. Fill in these co-ordinates with the answers to the clues: N53.A8BCD8 W1.EF6G A - There’s a map showing the location of various finds. A is the number corresponding to the Celtic head. B - How many men in suits stand with the cricket team in the photo presented to Professor J Shaw Bolton? C - Take a look at the Foundation Stone from The Empire Theatre on Kirkgate. What year was it laid by Miss Vesta Tilley? Use the last digit of the year to get answer C. D - What year was the book This Sporting Life, by author David Storey, published? Take the last digit of the year to get answer D. E - Over the centuries Wakefield has been a strategically important city which has seen many battles. Take the second and third digits of the century that the longsword dates from as answer E. F - Look for the portrait of Charles Waterton, painted by Charles Wilson Peale. What date was this portrait painted? Use the last two digits to form answer F. G – Wakefield Prison was originally founded as the House of Correction. Take the second digit of the century when it was founded for answer G. While you’re looking for the answers you can explore the weird and wonderful of world of renowned naturalist and explorer Charles Waterton – David Attenborough is his biggest fan. Can you tell the difference between the real animals he preserved and the ones he appears to have invented? Don’t let his caiman nibble your toes! The museum is the perfect place to get an overview of this historic city, which has been the site of important historical battles including the Battle of Wakefield, fought close to Sandal Castle in 1460, at which Richard Duke of York died. This gave rise to the popular way to remember the colours of the rainbow – Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain. Children can dress up in the Victorian Front Room exhibition and fans of more recent sporting history can see boots worn by famous rugby league player and local lad, Don Fox.
