Colorado Spirit Quest #489: Pet Memorial Garden Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Sissadies: Denver Dumb Friends League no longer welcomes geocaches on their property.

In an e-mail I received, "...we think that having unfamiliar faces walking around our grounds may raise alarm by our staff and potentially cause some issues for our security." It really contradicts their statement online that says, "You are welcome to visit the memorial garden any time during our regular business hours."

<rant>I won't hold a grudge, and will still adopt pets from them, but it is sad that they contradict themselves. I was even questioned what I was doing while walking around outside with BearAdair enjoying the nice weather. I don't feel comfortable visiting the gardens anymore, and will find a different resting place for Phred when that sad time comes. Don't invite the public if you are going to be so worried about them.</rant>

!!! The Exciting Cache Series !!!

“COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST”

REMEMBER:

If you are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries – AVOID this series.

The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

If you are interested in being a part of this project, contact may be made by sending an e-mail to the owner of “Colorado Spirit Quest #1 – Mountain Passage”.  Use the "Send Message" link at the center of the page of their profile.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado.  This series will introduce you to many of them.

The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.

The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task and will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers  willing to place these caches.

After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.

Each person that places a CSQ cache is responsible for its maintenance.

Thanks to the volunteers: Greasepot, Taylorgeotracker, Ivy Dog Parents, Team Boogity3, Grand High Pobah, Boborr 80909, Imusttravel2000, Buzz Lightyear I, Sandhill 49er, MrVolkswagen, Isisfan, Rockymtn8iv, Fork-L-Man, Outdrlvr201, Condor1, 2Cachedivers, arthurat, smilz787, Kyotmoon, Mountain Roamer, SugarPug, Team Tiger Pride, ernie66, drnetwork, Team w-bar-v, Dynamite Rabbit, DustyKat, mtnbirders, RustyBeerCan & Marma, grymreaper, nteclpr, Moose1 & Mama Moose, Joe Friday, 3cacheteers, Dasha Aussies, KB0UMW, hiking_fool, tripping, res71cue, 1Mrs1Ogre, nickgatt, kingbee, The misgnoners, rbradu, shashyaz&foxy, Bugranger, Lyonden ut., Any Direction, Sewnssew, The Meandering Monkeys, Charlie-n-Geri, skibum1, gooftroop 4, stubywwjd, MaDDoGGaming, Wolverine, Random Acts, lbmiller, BTBugs, God chaser, imcasey, lesslost2, Back Country Horseman, vorticity, Triggur, Eagle 2, imyy4u2, MikeAndJuli, 9-rushman&famgirl79, TheBrecks, animjason, Sissadies & Phred.

A LARGE cache with lots of nice SWAG, please trade even or up, thanks! I hope you enjoy the camo. Please use stealth, and re-hide well so landscaping doesn't find it. Keep to the paths as much as possible, and please respect this area. There are five steps to this multicache, including the final. It should be easy, and give you a nice tour of these beautiful and sacred grounds. Please be respectful while doing this cache, thanks! Pets are welcome on leash, but make sure they relieve themselves on Friendship Walk before going onto the memorial grounds. The posted coordinates are for close parking. I have also added coordinates for one of the gate entries into the memorial grounds. There are four other waypoints you will need to visit to get the final coordinates, and they can be done in any order. Let's begin!

The FINAL cache will be located at N39 40.ABC W104 54.DEF

At Stage 1: Lotte Jehlik Memorial Picnic Grove: What is the second number of the year on this plaque? Divide this number by three, and this will equal E.

At Stage 2: The Malo Garden: This garden is in memory of J. __________ Malo. How many letters are in their middle name? This will equal A. What is the second digit in the year of their birth? This will equal C.

At Stage 3: Bench + Statue: This bench is dedicated to Linda Franz by the __________? How many letters in this name? This will equal B. Very close to this bench, to the east, you will see a sculpture. If it is a Horse, F equals 8. If it is a Cat, F equals 3. If it is a Dog, F equals 7. If it is a Peacock, F equals 5.

At Stage 4: Bench: On this bench, there are animals etched on the backrest. If a cat and two horses, D equals 1. If two horses, D equals 2. If two dogs and a horse, D equals 0. If two dogs, D equals 3.

I hope you enjoyed this cache! There is a "animjason♥sissadies" Pathtag for FTF.
