< Yokomachi and Masugata >
Two right-angle corners of Nakatsugawa-juku's main street are located in Yokomachi. Those bends in the street are called "Masugata," which were intentionally installed so that the main part of the town -- that is Honjin and its neighborhood -- cannot be seen straight from the outside the town for security reason.
There are old merchant houses in the Edo period still remaining today in Yokomachi. Enjoy atmosphere of old houses -- a famous chestnut-cake confectioner, a sake brewery, and the like. There is also a small exhibition room where you can learn things more about Nakatsugawa-juku and Yokomachi.

これは、２段階のマルチキャッシュです。
公開座標から南南東の方角に延びる街路の辺りは横町と呼ばれ、江戸時代からの古い商家が今も残っています。
（中津川宿、駐車場、レンタサイクルについては "Nakatsugawa-juku #1" をご参照ください。）
＜横町と枡形＞
横町では、中津川宿のメインストリートが直角に左、右と続いて折れ曲がっています。こうした場所を「枡形」といいます。人為的に設けられたもので、その目的は警備上、宿場の中心部（＝本陣周辺）を直線的に見通せないようにするため、と言われています。
横町には江戸時代から続く古い商家が現在も残っています。通りに沿って、よく名の知られた栗菓子司、造り酒屋などの古い町並みが並んでいます。小さな展示室もあり、この横町や中津川宿についての資料を見ることができます。
