Geocache Description:

This geocache is one of ten that have been placed throughout the County of Annapolis. Find the hidden word in the geocache and fill it in on the County of Annapolis Adventure Quest Geocache Passport.

The South Shore Annapolis Valley Trail will be the longest of the Annapolis County Trails when completed. The trail follows along the former Canadian National Railroad Line which previously ran from the Annapolis Valley to Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. When this trail is completed it will be 122 km long. This is part of the Trans-Canada Trail being fixed up right across Canada from one end to the other.

The trail starts at Middleton and travels south through to Springfield in Annapolis County and then travels on to Pinehurst, Lunenburg County. The old rail bed traveled through many towns and villages along the way and at times crossed or ran close to roads. This gives several entry & exit points all along the trail. It is full of different scenery as it takes you along fields, woods, lakes and streams. You will see many different landscapes, vegetation and wildlife along the trail. The fairly level trail or the old rail line provides good walking for both young and old, hardy walkers or someone just out for a stroll. You can do either a short stroll or go for a longer hike along the South Shore - Annapolis Valley Trail.

This geocache located a short distance off the multi use recreational trail in Springfield, Nova Scotia. Please park at the nearby Springfield Picnic Park. Remember to pickup your County of Annapolis Adventure Quest Geocache Passport from the Bridgetown Office: 217 Granville Street Bridgetown, Nova Scotia. Also, once the passport is completed, return to the same location for your limited edition trackable wooden nickel geocoin. Have fun!

Please note that there are only twenty trackable wooden nickel geocoins left for this passport.
