So Thangbrand put an arrow into his bow, pulled back the string to his ear and let it fly, it flew so fast and strong it burried itself deep into a tree. But Erik said "But my arrow will go straight through the tree and out the other side" and he pulled back his bowstring no further than his elbow and let his arrow fly straight and true. But he did not aim at the trunk of the tree, but for a leaf hanging from a branch and split it in two. Eriks men agreed that Thangbrand had the stronger arm but Erik was the more cunning.
