What Shrub Is That?
Shrubs
A shrub is defined as a woody perennial plant that possesses multiple stems arising from a common point, known as the crown. ‘Perennial’ means that it lives for many years.
Solving the puzzle
To find this mystery cache you need to identify the eight common garden shrubs pictured below and write the name of each shrub’s genus (the first part of its scientific name) in the corresponding numbered line in the grid below. To make this easier I have shaded unused cells in the grid dark purple so you can see how long each genus name is.
The cache is located at S41 0A.BCD E175 0E.FGH. The values for the co-ordinate digits A to H are obtained from the letters that you have written in the grid in the following grid positions (in the yellow squares in the grid):
A = 8a
B = 2g
C = 5f
D = 6f
E = 1h
F = 7c
G = 3d
H = 4e
Each letter from the grid is converted to its position in the alphabet. If the letter is in position 10 to 26 in the alphabet you just use the LAST digit of the position as the number for the co-ordinate, e.g. the letter A converts to 1, the letter Z converts to 6.
