Ingar school 1898 to 1959 Ingar / Marannie school was a small school on the banks of Reedy creek about 15 miles from Singleton. Ingar school was originally called Marannie when it was opened in 1873 Marannie school was moved around 1898 operating until 1921 then closed. Prior to closing an application was made to change the school name to Ingar the school had close by the time the decision was made. Ingar was the name taken from the local Telephone Exchange now gone. Local residents built the second school free of cost to the Department of Education on adjacent private land so that the Dept of Education or the Government were unable to sell or own the school building the original school site was used as the playground and the Education Dept leased the school building from the Ingar P&C Association for 26 pound per year [About $56] Ingar school closed its doors for the last time in December 1960 The school site was reunited back to a Public Reserve in trust to Singleton Shire Council in 1962 You will walk the path to the top steep and find a Geocache and see the old stumps that the school sat on in the next door neighbours land please do not go over the fence plenty of area for the children to run in the Ingar Park
