Crabby Pattie's Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Pattie Cake: Sponge Bob is not looking too good. It is too much for me to continue to recreate this cache each year, with so few people coming to find it. Time to archive the big guy. If you made the effort to find him, thanks for stopping by.

Geocache Description:

A cache that changes in difficulty and terrain multiple times a day?  That’s correct, so watch the tides (use the chart for the Wareham River).  Twice a day you will be able to wade to this cache (mucky bottom).  Six hours later, you will need to swim and dive down about 6 feet. During a full moon, this cache may be fully exposed. Bring your mask and snorkel.

You will find this cache (a painted cinder block with cache container that holds a diver’s slate/pencil attached) at the base of a dory tender pole, directly in front of the cottage seawall at 17 Blue Jay Terrace, Wareham. You may recognize the character on the cache as someone who spends a lot of time in his pineapple under the sea.

Please park on Pinehurst Drive, which is a one way street.  Take it slow in this area when driving, as it is thickly settled.  Walk down the public access way, Blue Jay Terrace, to the water.  Stealth will be needed on weekends and during summer vacation weeks.

The dory tender pole is seasonal. It will be removed at the end of the season and will be put back in the water in the spring. The timing will all depend on the water temperature. That being said, the cache will still be there, but not as easy to locate, as there will not be a surface marker. Geocaching can be dangerous, if you do not use common sense. Please be aware of the water temperature. In most cases, it is not wise to swim after the dory tender pole has been removed.  Remember, you won't need to even get wet if the tide is right.
