Geocache Description:

SideTracked caches are Cache and Dashes for public transport users, which can be found at or near train stations, ex-train stations or near miniature railways!

The Mauret station was located along the “St Symphorien-Lesparre” line (141 km, 29 stations) which was run by the Société des Chemins de Fer Economiques de Gironde.
The section Arès-Facture was inaugurated in January 1884. The journey (21 km) could be made in 32 minutes since a diesel train was brought into service in 1937.

Trains stopped operating in 1971 for passenger traffic and in 1978 for goods traffic. It was turned into a cycling path in the 80s.

The small former station of Le Mauret has so much changed that it is difficult to recognize. One may guess however where its name was displayed.
No pencil in the cache

Please do not step over the fence, the cache is outside.
