SideTracked - Shankill DART
The original station, situated some 650 metres south-west of the current station, opened on 10 July 1854 as part of the Harcourt Street Line linking Dublin with Bray. The original station was closed when the line closed in 1958. Sadly, its original facade was covered up during construction of the Shankill Business Centre during the 1970s. The current Shankill Station was opened on the 10th June 1977. It was upgraded in 1983 to cater for the new electrified DART trains.
Sidetracked caches are intended to provide quick cache-and-dashes at train stations. This is a small container which can hold some small swag.
The cache is located outside the station, so there is no need to enter the station, or purchase tickets to find the cache. The cache is a magnetic cache. Please be stealthy and avoid muggles.
There is ample parking in the immediate area, but please watch for times when you have to pay & display. The DART will take you within 100m. It is served by DART suburban rail service, and at peak times by Dublin Connolly diesel commuter trains.
***Congrats Sarahmur on the FTF! Delighted to know Eftie has a good home!***
