The cache is a part of the Tom Thomson PT. It is accessible by foot, ATV, snowmobile and car. Be aware it is along an unmaintained road, use at own risk! Bring a pen and Happy Hunting!
When Tom Thomson was frequenting Algonquin park the only (engine powered) way in and out was by train. The Canoe Lake train station was 8 kms from Mowat. The travel to and from the train station was done with horse and buggy. This first photo was believed to be taken out front of Mowat Lodge. Tom Thomson is taking travellers from the lodge to the train station in the Fraser buggy. The Canoe lake station is no longer a rail station but a bed and breakfast.
