The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. For over a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Mountaineer Area Council, BSA serves Scouts and Scouters in twelve counties in North Central West Virginia. The council has units for all Scouting programs (Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, and Varsity Scouts) that participate in a variety of activities throughout the year. The council camp, Camp Mountaineer, is just south of Morgantown, WV and encompasses over 1,000 acres of West Virginia flora and fauna with sites and cabins available for reservation year-round. Our council is about 2.5 hours north of The Summit Bechtel Reserve.
