Welcome to the Dengie. I have lived here for many years, but never really liked it. It was isolated and I didn't find there was much to do. But 9 months ago I passed my driving test, and since then I have been out exploring the area. There are fields in every direction you look; these are beautiful to explore in the summer. There are public footpaths taking you to hidden places, and concealed gems waiting to be discovered.
This is my first cache, and where better place to set one than my own village of Southminster. I was brought up here, and when I was little I would go to the field at the end of my road, explore the area, and climb trees. The 1.1 hectare woodland was created in 2002 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II with the planting of thousands of trees. It will develop into a mixed deciduous woodland.
Take care when finding this cache as the path can get muddy when it's been raining. The final task to retrieving the cache will involve a small bit of tree climbing. So make sure you wear appropriate shoes with enough grip! You can park anywhere on Devonshire Road, Hillside Road, or Crown Way and walk to the end of the road. Please do not park next to the woodland as you would be blocking the private road. Please place the cache back as well hidden as possible. Lastly, I have left a travel bug in the small container for the first finder. Happy hunting, and remember: a cache a day keeps the boredom away :)
