Geocache Description:

Placing this Geocache on this day (May 7th) in this location because it has a very special meaning to my family. In September of 2014 we lost my grandfather, and May 7th would have been his birthday. This location is special to us because it is/was his land where he farmed and spent many a spring day hunting a family favorite, Morel Mushrooms!

This geocache is placed in honor of an incredible man, my Grandpa Bob! He was a dedicated son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, hard working farmer, loyal friend, volunteer, philanthropist, decorated Navy Veteran, and was known for his sense of humor and pranks. His roots run deep in the Hancock County Community. He was involved in numerous organizations and even sat on the board of directors for many of them. He created scholarships, foundations, art galleries and funds to promote students' art work and help farm children attend college. Helping Hancock County become a better place to live was very important to him. He was always willing to help anyone in need and also organized numerous mass harvestings for injured farmers. In 2011 he was inducted into the Hancock County Agriculture Hall of Fame in recognition of his contributions to agriculture and the community. He farmed 500 acres in Eagle Township near Arlington and was a very successful and proud hog farmer.

This cache is very easy to find! It's a plastic ammo box filled with things that represent parts of my Grandpas life. Feel free to take a memento so you'll remember the significance of this cache. You can also leave something if you're familiar with the great man I've described.

Please, please, please respect the beauty of the area and go no further into the field than necessary. This is a quick stop and grab, however the area is so peaceful it's nice to sit and enjoy the sounds of nature if you have the time.
