Geocache Description:

Ralston Grange is one five Granges listed for Adams County with the Washington State Grange and is currently one of the most active in the community. It annually hosts an Easter Egg hunt, Mother’s Day dinner, cribbage tournament, bingo event, Christmas party and potluck, is part of the Adopt-a-Highway program and maintains the Ralston Park. This is why it earns the Greek letter Alpha.

The first letter of the Greek alphabet is said to derive from the Egyptian hieroglyphic for a horned ox's head, by way of the semitic "aleph", which today doesn't look at all ox-like. Originally on its side, our modern "A", like its Greek ancestor, has the horns pointed downward. From http://www.pathguy.com/alphabet.htm
