Geocache Description:

Number 10 of a Connection-style series of puzzle caches requiring a bit of lateral thinking.

The rest of the series can be found by clicking on this link to the Only Connect bookmark list.

To solve this one, you need to work out how the three famous people (described very briefly) below are connected and once done deduce a number (based on that which connects them) which will help lead you to the cache location.

What connects a Pulitzer Prize winner, an Award of Merit winner and a Carnegie Medal winner? These three literary awards were all made in the 1950s.

  • Assign the first digit of the number to A, the second digit to B, and so on .....
  • Assign the number of letters in the name of the Carnegie Medal winner to J
  • Assign the number of letters in the name of the Pulitzer prize winner to K
  • Assign the number of letters in the name of the Award of Merit winner to L

The cache can be found at : N54 58.Y W001 38.Z

Where Y = (L x (F - A) x  G) + C + H and Z = ((F + D) x (B + E) +J) x K

Replace names for obvious initials ...

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
