Kulshan Creek Neighborhood Station Traditional Cache

This cache is part of the 2015 Mount Vernon Parks Geocoin event.
 

The Kulshan trail is the main East-West trail through the city of Mount Vernon. This portion of the trail cuts through the Kulshan Creek Neighborhood.

Almost 20 years ago, the Mount Vernon School District and the Mount Vernon Police Department partnered to create the Kulshan Creek Neighborhood station. Serving a high density community, the neighborhood station, know to residents as the Azul Casa (blue house), has become the community center. After school programs, weekend events, neighborhood improvements and community meetings are the norm here.

From GZ you'll see the butterfly garden at the entrance to the trail. Farther west along the trail is the Neighborhood Garden. There is also a annual Geokid event introducing the children to Geocaching. Since the implementation of the station, the community has taken ownership of the neighborhood. While calls for service from the police department have continued to decline 4-5% citywide, the Kulshan Creek Neighborhood has dropped more than 40%.

Use some stealth when searching for this cache. It's a very busy place!
