Discovered this short trail along Mud Bay while in Homer for the 2015 Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival. If you park at the recommended parking and walk the trail from there, along the way you can see where the bluff along the road collapsed earlier this year and slide across the trail.
While here for the Shorebird Festival we managed to spot over fifty different types of birds while here for the weekend. We spotted yellowlegs, eagles, surfbirds, loons, pintails, sandhill cranes, canvasbacks, plovers, mallards, dunlaps, cormorants, turnstones and several types of gulls.
So while in Homer, take a walk along the path and enjoy the view and maybe spot some wildlife along this trail. You’ll know where this one is when you arrive at the coordinates.
