In a recent poll run by the Belfast Telegraph, Joey Dunlop was voted Northern Ireland’s Greatest Ever Sports Star. To celebrate this, I have created this cache for biker fans everywhere.
To work out the coordinates for the cache, you will need to access some information. Much has been written about the achievements of Joey Dunlop, racing legend, but I have tried to stick to simple facts which you can verify with a little research.
The cache is a magnetic nano so, if you are on your bike, you will have to BYOP ( and maybe a pair of tweezers). Bikers travel with those, right?
The cache is hidden at roadside. There is parking on the opposite side of the road but you must be careful as the road is very busy and traffic moves very quickly. To work out the location of the cache, you will need to solve the following clues:
The location of the cache is N 55 AB.CDE W 006 FG.HIJ
A: He won the Manx Sword of State 'King of the Mountain'. What is the final digit of the year?
B: The number of times he won Texaco Sports Star of the year
C: He finished in this position in Belfast Telegraph’s Northern Ireland’s Greatest Sports Star
D: The digital root of the year Joey was born
E: The number of years he rode for Yamaha in the NW200
F: The number of honours he was awarded from Buckingham Palace
G: The year he won his first TT, you need the final digit only
H: The easy one! His favoured helmet number
I: The number of TT wins, you need the final digit only
J: The number of ORIGINAL members of the ‘Armoy Armada’
You can check your answers for this puzzle on GeoChecker.com.
I've had to move this cache a short distance, hopefully temporarily. So, when you get the green light on the checker, adjust the final coords as follows: D subtract 6, E add 7, I subtract 6, J add 5.
