Dit is de laatste cache van de liberation route.

Op bovenstaand coördinaat bevindt zich luisterplek 161 welke een punt is in de Liberation Route Europe.

De Liberation Route Europe volgt het pad dat de geallieerden bewandelden tijdens de bevrijding van Europa. De route begint bij Normandië en loopt via Noord-Brabant, Nijmegen, Arnhem en de Zuid-Veluwe richting Berlijn. Deze gebieden speelden aan het einde van de Tweede Wereldoorlog een hoofdrol op het wereldtoneel.
De Liberation Route laat je beleven wat zich in 1944 en 1945 afspeelde in Noord-Brabant, rondom Arnhem en Nijmegen en op de Veluwe. Op ruim 80 locaties in de wijde omgeving liggen veldkeien, de zogenoemde luisterplekken. Op iedere luisterplek is een hoorspel te beluisteren over de indrukwekkende belevenissen van één of meerdere personen in de jaren 1944-1945.

Moerdijk komt in november 1944 in de frontlinie te liggen. Veel inwoners vluchten, maar zo'n 250 burgers zoeken een schuilplaats in de kelders van het klooster. Zuster Cornelia houdt een dagboek bij over de gebeurtenissen.
Begin november had de 1e Poolse Pantserdivisie zijn doel in West-Brabant bijna bereikt: Moerdijk. Terwijl de Polen oprukten vanuit Terheijden en Zevenbergschenhoek, naderden ook de Amerikanen van de 104e Infanterie Divisie, bekend als de Timberwolves vanuit Zevenbergen. De Polen namen Moerdijk met hun artillerie zwaar onder vuur. Ze moesten de Duitse anti-tankstellingen bij Moerdijk het zwijgen zien op te leggen.
Ondertussen hadden de inwoners van Moerdijk te maken met een waar inferno aan granaten en beschietingen. Veel van hen waren geëvacueerd, maar zo'n 250 dorpelingen hadden hun heil gezocht in de kelders van het klooster aan de Steenweg.
Zuster Cornelia was een van de zusters die hen daar opving. In haar dagboek beschreef ze nauwkeurig alle gebeurtenissen rond de bevrijding, die op 9 november 1944 eindelijk kwam.

Bij de bovengenoemde coördinaten vindt u het monument met het volgende gedicht:

The battle of the Scheldt
What happened on and around this spot during the liberation days in the autumn of 1944?
Here you will find audiospot 161 of the Liberation Route Europe.
For the Allies, the harbour of Antwerp was of great importance strategically. But they could only use it when also the shores of the Scheldt river and the access roads were free from German troups. Because of this here in the Battle of the Sheldt the war stormed with all its horror, with all consequences for militaries and civilians. Turn the wheel and listen to their experiences.

In November 1944, Moerdijk lies on the front line. Many residents flee, but about 250 civilians seek refuge in the cellars of the convent. Sister Cornelia keeps a diary about the events.
In early November, the 1st Polish Armoured Division had nearly reached its goal in West Brabant: Moerdijk. While the Poles advanced from Terheijden and Zevenbergschenhoek, the US 104th Infantry Division, known as the Timberwolves, also approached from Zevenbergen. The Poles launched heavy artillery fire at Moerdijk. They had to silence the German anti-tank positions near Moerdijk.
Meanwhile, the inhabitants of Moerdijk were subjected to a veritable inferno of grenades and shelling. Many of them were evacuated, but around 250 inhabitants had sought refuge in the cellars of the monastery on the Steenweg.
Sister Cornelia was one of the sisters who helped them. In her diary, she accurately described all events surrounding the liberation that finally came on the 9th of November 1944.
