Geocache Description:

The descriptions for these caches follow the Way west from Drumoak to Banchory. However, the Way can be followed in either direction.

The Deeside Way largely follows the route of the Old Royal Deeside Railway from Aberdeen to Ballater. The path is suitable for walkers and cyclists with many sections suitable for horses as well. The majority of the route is suitable for child buggies and wheelchairs can access to within a few metres of all caches. Further details on the Deeside Way can be found at www.deesideway.org The route is waymarked using the following logo -

Milton of Crathes is a restored set of 17th century stone buildings with restaurant ,craft shops and play area. The Coy Burn passes through the site and was formerly diverted to power a mill.
It's in keeping with Milton's chicness that common puddocks have been ousted by a European tree frog, Hyla arborea, which likes to be close to water. But not too close. The species becomes very noisy on the approach of rain and is sometimes kept in confinement as a kind of barometer. As this is way out of its normal range it's probably fair to say this is another exotic introduction.
