This earthcache brings you to the viewpoint above Laguna Colorada, to the altitude 4350m. It is near the entrance to Nation Parque, „Reserva nacional de fauna andina Eduardo Avaroa”, but to claim the earthcache you do not need to enter it.
Laguna Colorada is a shallow endorheic and hypersaline lake with the average depth about 45cm. The dimensions of the lake are 10.7*9.6km, area of the lake is 54km2. The red color is caused by algae, the white islands are made from borax.
Average rainfall is 75mm per year, most from December to March. The average tempereture in area is about 9 degrees, absolute minimum -17, absolute maximum 17.4.
From the viewpoint you can see many flamingos – there are three species on the site - James’s flamingo, Andean flamingo and Chilean flamingo.
To claim this earthcache, please answer me the following questions.
1. What does mean „endorheic lake“ nad „hypersaline lake“. Explain in your words, answers can be found in wikipedia.
2. Measure the altitude of the viewpoint above the lake.
3. There are many vulcanic rocks in front of you, that were formed by cooling of lava flow.. What is the color of it? Do you see any cracks or holes there?
4. Optional: take picture of you and the lake

Este geocaching (Earthcache) lo lleva a 4350m de altura de para observar por encima de Laguna Colorada. Se encuentra cerca de la entrada del Parque Nacional, "Reserva nacional de la fauna andina Eduardo Avaroa", pero para reclamar este geocaching no es necesario ingresar al mismo.
La Laguna Colorada es un lago endorreico y hipersalino poco profundo, con una profundidad media de 45 cm. Las dimensiones del lago son 10,7 * 9,6 km, y el área del mismo es de 54km2. El color rojo característico es causado por las algas, las islas blancas están hechas de bórax.
Con precipitación media anual de 75 mm, en general de diciembre a marzo. La temperatura media en el área es de unos 9°, mínima absoluta -17°, absoluta máxima 17.4°.
Desde el mirador se puede apreciar muchos flamencos - hay tres especies en el sitio - flamenco de James, flamenco andino y flamenco chileno.

1. Qué significa "lago endorreico" y "lago hipersalino". Explique con sus palabras, las respuestas se pueden encontrar en la wikipedia.
2. Altura del mirador sobre el lago.
3. Hay muchas rocas volcánicas frente de usted, formadas por el enfriamiento de la corriente de lava. ¿De que color de la misma? ¿Puede ver grietas o agujeros?
